FLINT
V1.1
7.20
7.20 Streaming
Every Broadcast Pix Flint system has the ability to stream the Program output directly
to a content delivery network (CDN) using any of the popular streaming websites, like
Ustream, LiveStream or JustinTV. Most of these streaming providers offer free
services and require an account to be created. The Flint Systems use Adobe Flash
Media Live Encoder as the qualified encoding software, and it comes pre-installed on
all Flint Systems. Using any other encoding software may cause unpredicted
performance issues and is not supported.
The Program video output from the Broadcast Pix software is automatically sent to
the Flash encoder through software and the audio comes in through an input card, as
described in section 1.6. Audio is automatically synchronized with the video, to
guarantee constant lip-sync. Streaming resolutions of up to 1280x720 @ 3000kbps is
supported. Using any higher bit rates and resolutions may cause performance issues.
It is imported to note what resolutions your CDN supports and use the preferred
settings provided by the CDN. An Internet connection of at least 2 Mbps upload speed
is recommended to guarantee a reliable HD video streaming. It is not recemmended
to view the stream on the Flint system while you are streaming as more bandwidth
will and CPU will be utilized and may cause performance issues. Please use a 3
rd
party computer to view the stream .
This section describes how to configure the Flash encoder software using a Ustream
account. Please refer to your CDNs support documentation for more information.
