X3200
and the WAN
If you have carried out the configuration steps in
chapter 5.1, page 103
,
X3200
is set up for your
➤➤
LAN
. If you also want to access hosts outside your LAN,
e.g. to surf the
➤➤
Internet
, then this chapter will be of interest to you.
The following points are considered:
■
General configuration of
➤➤
WAN partners
:
To enable
X3200
to make connections to networks outside your LAN, you
must configure the desired connection partners as WAN partners on your
X3200
. This applies to outgoing connections (
X3200
dials its WAN partner),
incoming connections (a WAN partner dials the number of your
X3200
) and
leased lines. If you want to access the Internet, you must configure your In-
ternet Service Provider (
➤➤
ISP
) as a WAN partner. If you wish to estab-
lish a LAN-LAN connection, e.g. between your LAN and the LAN of your
head office (corporate network connection), you must configure the LAN of
your head office as a WAN partner.
How to configure a WAN partner on your
X3200
is explained in general
terms in
chapter 5.2.1, page 131
.
If you configured one or two leased lines at the S
0
connection (see
chapter 5.1.4, page 112
) during configuration of
X3200
’s WAN interface, a
WAN partner entry for each leased line appears automatically in the WAN
Partner menu. Edit this entry to suit your requirements.
■
Examples of configuring a WAN partner for Internet access:
You will find examples of how to set up an ISP as a WAN partner in
chapter 5.2.2, page 155
. Here you will find a quick procedure if you want to
access the Internet with
X3200
via one of the following providers:
–
T-Online
–
Telekom Austria
–
Compuserve
Two examples are given for the provider T-Online. The first explains how to
configure a high-speed Internet access. The second example describes the
procedure for configuring conventional access.
