Appendix/External Device Networking/Troubleshooting

Do not remove any inscription stickers
attached to the FOMA.
The inscription stickers certify that the FOMA
terminal satisfies specific technical standards.
Note that if stickers are removed intentionally
or are reattached in such a way that
confirmation of the sticker's contents is
impossible, repair or servicing may be refused
because confirmation of whether or not the
phone conforms to relevant technical
standards cannot be made.

Function settings and information such as
total calls may be cleared (reset) by
malfunctions, repair or other handling of
FOMA terminal. Should that happen, set up
the functions again.
･
Magnetic components are used in the earpiece
and speaker, etc. of the FOMA terminal. Do not
allow cash cards or other devices that are
vulnerable to magnetism to come into contact
with the phone.
･
If the FOMA terminal becomes wet or moist,
turn the power off and remove the battery
pack immediately and bring the terminal to the
repair office as soon as possible. However,
repair may not be possible depending on the
condition of the FOMA terminal.
Software update
Software update
This function checks for the necessity of updating
FOMA terminal software and downloads part of
the software as required through packet
communication

to update the software.
When software update is required, the information
will be posted in "
お知らせ (Notice)" on the
DoCoMo website or iMenu.
*: Packet communication for software update is free of
charge.

Software may be updated in the following 2
methods:
Immediate update:
Updates on the spot as desired.
Reserved update:
Specifies the day and time-slot for automatic
update of the software in the specified day and
time-slot.
INFORMATION

Software update is available even when Host
selection is other than "i-mode (UIM)".
･
Software update should be done with battery fully
charged and enough battery power ( ).
･
Software cannot be updated in the following cases:
- When UIM is not inserted
- When the battery is not fully charged
- When the power is OFF
- When (out of service area) is indicated
- When using in overseas
- When date and time are not set
- During a call
- While using other functions
- When PIN code is being entered
- When PIN is blocked
- During All lock ON
- In Omakase Lock
- In Self mode ON
- During PIM lock ON
- In Packet communication with a PC
- During 64K data communication

Software update (downloading or rewriting) may
take time.
･
If software update is executed when "ON" is set for
PIN code ON/OFF, the PIN code entry screen will be
displayed at the time of automatic reload after
completion of software updating. You cannot make/
receive calls and operate communication functions if
the incorrect PIN code is entered.

Making/receiving calls, communications functions
and other functions are disabled during software
update. Only incoming voice calls can be answered
while downloading.
･
For software update, SSL session is established to
the server (our site). Validate SSL certificate from
Manage certificate. Configured as valid by default.

◆ Phonebook and downloaded data, etc. ◆

Maintain a separate record of the data you register
in your FOMA terminal. DoCoMo will not accept
any liability and responsibility whatsoever for
changes of information or loss of information.

Data created, imported or downloaded by the
subscriber may be changed or lost when changing
models or repairing FOMA terminal. DoCoMo will
not accept any responsibility for such events.
DoCoMo may, at its option, replace your mobile
phone instead of repairing it. Data downloaded to
FOMA terminal including images and ring tones
and data you created is transferred only at
troubleshooting. (Some data may not be
transferred. Also cannot be transferred depending
on the failure level.)
Note: Depending on the size of data saved in the FOMA
terminal, transfer may take a time or be disabled.
