Setting SMS (Short Message)
You can set various usage conditions for SMS.

Select and set the
required items below

Font type:
Select Japanese or English language of
messages to be sent. The maximum
number of characters that can be sent differs
depending on the font type.
SMS report request:
Select whether to request SMS report
request when you send SMS.
Keep in SMS center:
Select the storage period of sent SMS in the
Short Message Center in cases the receiver
cannot receive the SMS.
SMSC:
Select SMSC when you use SMS services
other than DoCoMo.

When "Others" is set, enter a mail address
in the entry field for Address. Up to 20
one-byte characters can be entered.
Type of Number:
Select either "international" or "unknown". If
SMSC is set to "Others" and only numbers
or numbers with "
＊
" or " # " are set for mail
address, Type of Number needs to be set to
"unknown".

When operating from the SMS creation screen, press
m
and select "SMS settings". In this case, only SMS
report request and Keep in SMS center can be set.
The settings are effective only for SMS being created.

Settings of Font type, Keep in SMS center, SMSC and
Type of Number are saved also in the UIM.
SMS saved to UIM
Saving SMS (Short Message)

Sent/received SMS can be moved/copied from the
FOMA terminal to UIM.

Unsent SMS cannot be saved in the UIM.

When you move or copy a sent SMS with SMS
report request, the SMS report request is moved
or copied together. You cannot move or copy
only sent SMS or only SMS report request.

When operating from the received message detail
view screen or the sent message detail view screen,
press
m
and select "Move/Copy" → "Move to UIM" or
"Copy to UIM".

When the UIM already contains 20 SMS, you cannot
move or copy additional SMS. Delete unnecessary
SMS from the UIM.
･
When protected SMS is moved/copied to UIM, its
protection is canceled in the copy/move destination.

SMS report request: Not request
Keep in SMS center: 3 days SMSC: DoCoMo
Address: 81903101652 Type of Number: international
You usually do not need to change SMSC,
Address and Type of Number settings.
