2.19 Surgical Brake/Steer Pedal Malfunction
1. With the stretcher in the brake position, rotate the surgical brake/steer
pedal at the head end toward the steer position; do not force it. The pedal at
the head end rotates freely without disengaging the stretcher out of the
brake position, providing access for the caregiver or equipment.

Make sure the headed pin is oriented correctly, and the retaining
ring is fully seated (see figure 5-5 on page 5-20) (item 37 and
39). If this solves the problem, go to “Final Actions” on page
