Serial Communications Interface (SCI)
The RX610 Group has seven independent serial communications interface (SCI) units.
The SCI can handle both asynchronous and clock synchronous serial communications.
Asynchronous serial data communications can be carried out with standard asynchronous communications chips such as
a Universal Asynchronous Receiver/Transmitter (UART) or Asynchronous Communications Interface Adapter (ACIA).
The SCI also supports the smart card (IC card) interface supporting ISO/IEC 7816-3 (Identification Card) as an extended
asynchronous communications mode.

Overview
Table 20.1 lists the specifications of the SCI and table 20.2 lists the functions of each SCI channel.
Figure 20.1 shows a block diagram of the SCI0 to SCI4. Figure 20.2 shows a block diagram of the SCI5 and SCI6.
