or restore files. (If necessary, see the following section,
Choosing files to back up.)
When you have completed your backup or restore
operations and returned to the C prompt, type
win and
press ENTER to restart Windows. Then follow
instructions in Chapter 3 to restart the ID-4000
application and log in.
Choosing files to back up
The optional ID-4000 backup and restore utility allows
you either to back up all files on the ID-4000 hard drive or
to back up selected files only. You should back up the
entire hard drive after you install and set up the ID-4000
system. Repeat this full backup only if you make any
significant changes to the ID-4000 setup or configuration.
On a daily or weekly basis, however, you should back up
database and image files. These files are updated
frequently and would be difficult to reconstruct if they
were damaged or deleted accidentally.
ID-4000 database files, which contain applicant text data
and card history data, are located in one or more
directories named during system setup. See
Identifying
your database files on page 5-7 to find them.
Image files contain portraits, signatures and other
images. These image files are stored in numbered
subdirectories of the database directories, and have the
extensions .IMG, .TIF or .PCX.
