scroll bar A bar that appears at the bottom and/or right
of a list box whose contents are not completely visible.
You use a horizontal scroll bar to scroll left and right
through the list of items, and a vertical scroll bar to scroll
up and down through a list of items.
search criteria Data that you want to match when
searching for records in the ID-4000 databases. For
example, if you want to search for all records with
“Smith” as the last name, you type
Smith in the Last
Name field of the data entry window as the search
criterion.
select To mark an item by either clicking it with the
mouse or pressing a key, so an action can be carried out
on that item. After you select an item, you choose the
action that you want to affect the item.
sort To arrange a list of records in alphabetical or
numerical order according to one or more common
fields. For example, you can sort a group of applicant
records by last name and department number.
table A collection of data records.
template A collection of saved parameters and/or
settings that you use to perform an operation. For
example, a search template specifies how to search the
database and how to sort and display retrieved records.
text data Data that consists of letters, numerals,
symbols, and spaces, such as applicant names,
addresses, and ID numbers.
title bar The horizontal bar located at the top of the
window that contains the title of the window. For
example, the title bar for the help system contains the
title “ID-4000 Help”.
user ID A unique string of up to ten characters,
numerals, and/or spaces (but not including symbols and
punctuation marks) that identifies you as a valid user of
the ID-4000 system. You must enter your user name,
user ID and password to successfully log into the ID-4000
system.
