User password maintenance
All ID-4000 systems require that each user have an
individual user password to log into the system. Each
user should change his or her user password frequently
as explained below.
User password
guidelines
You should change your user password frequently to
help prevent unauthorized use of the ID-4000 system. A
weekly password change is typical, but your frequency
can be changed to suit the security needs of your
organization and environment.
Use passwords that are easily remembered, but are not
likely to occur to a person attempting unauthorized use
of the system. The name of a pet may be a good
password, for example, but your own name, nickname or
your company’s name is probably not.
A password can have a maximum of 10 characters. You
can use letters, numerals, symbols and spaces in a
password. Passwords are not case-sensitive. This means
you can type lower-case letters when you log in, even if
you used upper-case (capital) letters when you set up
your password.
Changing a user
password
Each user can follow the steps below to change his or
her password at any time. (To specify the first password
for a new user, see
Adding a new user on page 5-53).
