If the cursor is not in the first data entry field (
A), press
the TAB key until it appears there.
Note: Your ID-4000 may use another name for the
Employee Number field, such as “ID No.” or
“Employee ID.”

Type the applicant’s ID number.
When you type the first character in the window, three
record-processing buttons appear at the top center of the
window.

Choose the Retrieve button to display the record.
If the record appears, go to step 6.
If the message “Record not found” appears, the ID
number you typed is not in the database. In this case,
choose OK to remove the message and clear the fields.
Then do one of the following:
•
Retry entry of the ID number by returning to step 4.
•
Look for the record by performing a simple or advanced
search according to
Finding text records on page 4-15.
•
Discontinue the search and, if necessary, create a new
record for the applicant according to
Creating a new text
record on page 4-4.
