Turning the printer on
and off
Before turning on the PVC printer, make sure the ID-4000
computer is off. Then turn the printer power switch (
A) on
the back of the printer to On (“1”).
Note: You can turn on the ID-4000 computer immediately
after you turn on the printer.
After you turn the printer on, use a cleaning card to clean
the printer as described in the instructions provided with
the printer. (You must clean the printer each time you
turn it on.)
When turning the ID-4000 system off, turn the computer
off
before turning the printer off.
Replacing the printer
ribbon
The PVC printer uses an inked ribbon to print images on
the blank PVC cards. This ribbon must be replaced
periodically. See the instructions provided with the
printer for ribbon specifications, ordering instructions
and the replacement procedure.
Printing a badge
After you have chosen the Print button from the ID-4000
Data Entry window and performed any appropriate
image-capture operations described in Chapter 4, the
ID-4000 display prompts you to print a badge. When you
choose OK, the ID-4000 computer transmits the image to
the PVC printer without any intervention from you. (This
requires a few seconds.)
When the printer has received the image, the center
(green) indicator light on the printer flashes rapidly.
