This parameter is used to select the unit in which the data is to be expressed
(pulses, millimeters, or inches). The setting is made in one digit, as follows:
0: Pulses
1: Millimeters
2: Inches
•
This parameter also sets the pulse rate (unit/pulse) in five digits, from 0.0001 to
1.0000.
Note If the unit is set to “0: Pulses,” the pulse rate will be fixed at 1.0000.

Note
1. Within the Position Control Unit, operations are performed using pulse data
as the standard. Therefore, when millimeters or inches are set as the data
unit, the data is converted to pulses according to the pulse rate. When the
data is converted, all digits to the right of the decimal point are discarded. For
example, if the unit is set to millimeters, the pulse rate is 0.4567, and the data
setting is 99999.999, the conversion will be calculated as follows:
99999.999 (mm) / 0.4567 = 218962.1174 (pulses)
The digits to the right of the decimal point will be discarded, so the internal
data will be treated as 218,962 pulses. Thus the data that the Position Con-
trol Unit processes internally will be slightly different from the origin
99999.999 mm that was set. (218962 x 0.4567 = 99999.9454 mm)
2. When a change has been made to this parameter, be sure to transfer the
new (i.e., changed) parameter data to the Position Control Unit before trans-
ferring the rest of the data. The Position Control Unit will use this parameter
data to convert the set data to pulse units. (But simply sending the changed
parameter data by itself will not cause any data that is already in the Position
Control Unit to be changed.)
