Note When only one node’s disconnected node information is stored, the data is
stored in bits 8 to 14 (disconnected node information #1).
Example 2: One Optical Fiber Disconnected in Two Places
As long as one of the optical fibers is communicating normally in one direc-
tion, the network can continue operating normally even though the other opti-
cal fiber is broken in two places. While the system will continue operating
normally, repair the ring as soon as possible to prevent the system from going
down if another problem occurs.
The following example shows a network in which the downlink optical fiber is
broken between nodes 1 and 2 (the uplink fiber for node 2) and the downlink
optical fiber is broken between nodes 3 and 4 (the uplink fiber for node 4).
