Precautions for Duplex Systems
Section 8-4
• Basically, the maximum number of CS-series CPU Bus Units that can be
mounted to a single CS1D PLC (including Expansion Racks) is 16. This is
because unit numbers are restricted to the range 0 to 15. For this reason,
standby Controller Link Units that have the same unit number as an active
Controller Link Unit are not included in this figure. (For example, if there
are 3 pairs of Duplex Units, the maximum number of mountable Units is
19.)
• CX-Programmer Ver. 3.0 or later is required to make settings for Duplex
Units.
• Although standby Controller Link Units do not participate in the network
as nodes, they are physically connected to the network and so they are
included in the figure for the maximum number of connectable Units. For
this reason, up to a total of 62 active and standby Controller Link Units
can be connected. Therefore, if all the nodes are used in the CS1D Sys-
tem, with all the Controller Link Units used in duplex operation, the maxi-
mum number of nodes is 31 (62
−
Number of standby Controller Link
Units).
• It is also possible to use only some of the Units in the Controller Link Net-
work in duplex operation. In this case, up to a total of 62 active and
standby Controller Link Units and Controller Link Units that are not used
in duplex operation can be connected. The Units that are not used in
duplex operation can include both existing Units (CS1W-CLK12, CS1W-
CLK52, CVM1-CLK12, or CVM1-CLK52) and duplex-compatible Units.
• As long as they are mounted on the same PLC, two Controller Link Units
used in duplex operation can be mounted on different Racks or in non-
adjacent slots.
