Handling Precautions
Section 10-7
!Caution
Do not use volatile solvents such as benzine or paint thinner, or chemical
cloths for cleaning. They will damage the quality of the coating on the Unit.
10-6-2 Inspection
Controller Link Units must be inspected on a regular basis to ensure correct
operation. Inspections should be conducted once every 6 to 12 months. If the
Unit is subject to extremes in temperature or humidity, inspections should be
conducted on a more regular basis.
Tools and Equipment Need for Inspection
The following tools and equipment will be needed to perform inspection and
adjustments.
• Assorted flat-blade and Phillips screwdrivers
• Circuit tester or digital voltmeter
• Industrial-grade alcohol and clean cotton cloth
• Synchroscope
• Pen-chart recording oscilloscope
• Thermometer, hygrometer
• Light tester
Inspection Items
Inspect the follow items to see if they deviate from the prescribed standards. If
any items do deviate from the standard either adjust so they are within the
operating range or adjust the Unit accordingly.
10-7 Handling Precautions
The Controller Link Unit is a Network device. If the Unit is damaged, it will
effect the entire Network, so always ensure repairs are undertaken immedi-
ately. We recommend that you have a spare Controller Link Unit on hand so
that repairs may be conducted quickly.
10-7-1 Replacing Existing CS-series Models with New Models
The new CS-series Controller Link Units, the CS1W-CLK12-V1 and CS1W-
CLK52-V1, are completely compatible upgrades of the CS1W-CLK12 and
CS1W-CLK52. The replacement procedure is the same as that for existing
models. Also, if the PLC is replaced with a CS1D System, duplex operation of
Communications Units and online replacement will be possible.
The maximum number of active and standby Controller Link Units that can be
mounted to one network is 62. If all the Units are used in duplex operation, the
