Locating and Correcting Cable Disconnections
Section 10-4
• Sends the 06 06 FINS command to all Communications Units (except the
local node) in the local network.
• Sets the control data.
• Sends the 06 06 FINS command to the Communications Unit at the local
node in the local network.
Note When using the sample program as written above, be sure that the bits and
words in the sample program are not already being used by the program or
other Special Units.
10-4-5 Reading the Ring Status
It is necessary to know the structure of the ring status word when displaying
the word on a Programmable Terminal or other device because several pieces
of information are combined in the ring status word. In particular, the “node
address of disconnected node” is stored in hexadecimal and mixed with other
status flags, so the node addresses must be extracted and converted to deci-
mal.
The sample programs shown below read the two “node address of discon-
nected node” addresses and store these addresses in the DM area in BCD
format. In this example, the Controller Link Unit’s unit number is 0.

Status Word
The following diagram shows the structure of the ring status word.

Note The disconnected node information is valid only when bit 15 (the Network
Disconnection Flag) is ON. If bit 15 is OFF, the earlier disconnected node
information is retained.
