4.
Press the F7 (Clear) Key. The designated node error log will be cleared.
Message Service
Reading an Error Log
Send the ERROR LOG READ FINS command (command code 2102 Hex) to
the appropriate node. Refer to 6-5-14 ERROR LOG READ.
Clearing an Error Log
Send the ERROR LOG CLEAR FINS command (command code 2103 Hex) to
the appropriate node. Refer to 6-5-15 ERROR LOG CLEAR.
10-4 Locating and Correcting Cable Disconnections
In an Optical Ring Controller Link System, the disconnect detection and notifi-
cation function can be used to locate an open point in the optical ring and
notify all of the nodes in the network through the polling node. If the ring is
broken at one point, this function allows the system administrator to perform
repairs and maintenance before another problem develops or the network
stops transmitting data.
10-4-1 Notification of Network Cable Disconnections
Optical Ring Controller Units connect to redundant transmission paths
through two interfaces. Data transmitted from another node in the network is
received at both of the Unit’s connectors (SL1 and SL2) as shown in the fol-
lowing diagram.
The following diagram shows the same network when the cable between
nodes 3 and 4 is disconnected or broken for some reason. Even in this case,
network communications will continue normally as long as the Controller Link
Unit can receive data normally through either SL1 or SL2.

Transmission
Controller Link Unit
Data transmitted by the local
node makes a complete circuit
through the network and then
received by the local node.
Reception
Controller Link Unit
The data is received
at both interfaces.
