Handling Precautions
Section 10-7
Note
• Online replacement of Controller Link Units will affect the network in the
way shown in the following table. Confirm that there will be no adverse
effect on the system for the application program before performing online
replacement.
• Specify the Unit to be replaced using the rack number and slot number.
Be sure not to specify the wrong Unit. With reference to the CPU Unit’s
Operation Manual, confirm the rack number and slot number using the
Programming Device before replacing the Unit.
Note Online replacement is not supported by CS1, CS1-H, CVM1, and CV-series
CPU Units. Refer to page 254 or page 254.

1.
From the Programming Console’s initial display, display the I/O Table Cre-
ate display.

2.
Specify the rack number and slot number of the Controller Link Unit to be
replaced. In this example, the rack number is 0 and the slot number is 3
(unit number 1).

• During online replacement, the other Unit will
switch to active mode and continue communi-
cations. (The node will temporarily leave the
network before rejoining.)
• The transmission path is duplicated and so
communications will continue if the cable of
the Unit being replaced is disconnected.
• If the backup power supply for the Unit being
replaced is turned OFF, it is detected as a net-
work disconnection, and the disconnect detec-
tion flag for each node turns ON. (The RING
indicator for each Controller Link Unit lights.)
Token-bus mode Online replacement, with communications con-
tinued, is not supported. Turn OFF the power for
all the nodes in the network before replacing the
Unit. For details, refer to page 254.
