Locating and Correcting Cable Disconnections
Section 10-4
After receiving notification of a disconnection, the polling node notifies all of
the nodes in the network about the disconnection. Each node updates its “ring
status” with the disconnection information transmitted from the polling node.
Note When using Controller Link Units in duplex operation, the standby Unit is not
recognized as a node. If the backup power supply to the standby Unit is
stopped, however, data will not be able to pass through and the network will
be disconnected at this point.
Ring Status Information
Stored in Each Node
Each node maintains ring status information in one word, as shown in the fol-
lowing diagram.
Ring Status word: CIO 1500 + 25 x
(Unit No.) + 23
The following tables show the ring status for each node in the preceding
example.
Ring Status of Nodes 3 and 4
Note The contents of disconnected node information #1 and #2 may be reversed
depending on network conditions.
Node address of disconnected node
(00 Hex: No disconnected nodes detected.)
Disconnected Interface Flag
0: SL1 (uplink) or normal status
1: SL2 (downlink)
Disconnected node
information #2
(See note.)
Local Node Disconnection Flag
0: Normal
1: Disconnection detected
Node address of disconnected node
(00 Hex: No disconnected nodes detected.)
Disconnected Interface Flag
0: SL1 (uplink) or normal status
1: SL2 (uplink)
Disconnected node
information #1
(See note.)
Network Disconnection Flag
0: Normal
1: Disconnection detected
Note The disconnected node information is valid only when bit 15 (the Network
Disconnection Flag) is ON. If bit 15 is OFF, the earlier disconnected node
information is retained.
