You may need an additional switch if – as outlined in example 2 – you want to
connect more than one Internet router to the VoIP Ethernet cable.
Preparing for Configuration
As a preparatory step, you should first determine the IP address ranges used
in the company network. Coordinate any additional IP address ranges to be
used with the network administrator.
As a further preparatory step, you should initially put the intended Internet
router or DSL modem into operation without connecting it to the company
network or the communications system. For detailed information about the
commissioning process, please refer to any guides provided by the telephony
provider or device manufacturer.
Note:
Make sure that only
one
DHCP server in the network is acti-
vated.
We recommend using the DHCP server of the commu-
nications system's call server.
Disable the DHCP function of
the Internet router /DSL modem to prevent IP address conflicts!
