Gateway Configuration

Forum 5004/5008/5012 and Gateways

Automatic Configuration

Automatic configuration requires setting the installation switch of the
hardware units to the operation mode desired (see

Configuring Installation

starting on page 42). For automatic configuration, hardware units

must be able to receive an IP configuration via DHCP, either via an external
DHCP server or via the DHCP server of the call server. Furthermore, the
hardware units must be able to communicate with one another using
network broadcast messages (“Broadcasts”, not possible through the router).

1.

Configure the installation switch as is appropriate. Set the installation
switch to “0 - call server” for a hardware unit. For additional hardware
units set the installation switch to “2”, “3” and “4” (see

Hardware Units

starting on page 41 for sample image).

2.

Activate the power supply for the hardware units. When configuring for
the first time, you have to first establish the connection between a PC and
the call server of the Forum 5004/5008/5012 communications system
and complete the initial installation (see

Brief Guide to Initial Configu-

starting on page 139).

3.

Start the Forum 5004/5008/5012 communications system configu-
rator. Log yourself in and navigate to the

Configurator

:

Telephony

:

Gateways

page.

4.

Click on the

Configuration automatic

button. The information in the

Type, MAC address and IP address columns is determined and transferred
to the configuration page.

The gateways are now configured and you can continue configuring the
Forum 5004/5008/5012 communications system.
