IP Cameras

Example 3: URL with general authentication 

For security reasons, it may be sensible to protect access to an IP camera by 
means of a login. The login details configured directly in the IP camera. The 
URL scheme for protected camera access is as follows: 

http://<user name>:<password>@<IP address or DNS name>

In example 3, access to the camera is generally protected because the login 
details are provided in the base URL. 

http://admin:[email protected]/ 

Example 4: URL with varying authentication 

In example 4, only access to the video provided by the camera is protected. SIP 
system telephones have unsecured access to the frames provided by the 
camera.

In addition, in example  4, access is to be gained via the secure “HTTPS” 
transfer protocol. This protocol type must therefore be entered in the base 
URL. If no protocol type is specified in the base URL, the communications 
system automatically adds the “HTTP” protocol type prefix to the URL.
