Forum Gateway 560 Connection via PCM-V Connection

Notes

Please note the following pointers regarding interface cards and ports when 
operating connected Forum Gateways 560:

●

All U

pn

, S

0

 and a/b ports on interface cards of a PCM slave gateway can 

be used with corresponding telephones. All features for system phones on 
U

pn

 ports can be used without restriction.

●

The S

0

 ports of the slave system can also be used for trunk lines or for 

PBX networking (see 

PBX Networking

 starting on page 228).

●

The ISDN-L1 reference clock is always passed on from the PCM master 
gateway to the PCM slave gateway. The reference clock thus has to be 
supplied by an S

0

 port – or preferably by an S

2M

 port – on the PCM master 

gateway. If the Forum 5004/5008/5012 communications system is to be 
connected to the public TDM network via the connected 
Forum Gateways 560, there has to be at least one ISDN trunk line 
connected to the PCM master gateway. If no external trunk line is 
connected, the master gateway generates the reference clock.

It is possible to operate an S

2M

 interface card Forum 550 Card PRA in the 

PCM slave gateway. Because the ISDN-L1 reference clock from an S

0

 

interface card is not precise enough, you require an S

2M

 interface card in 

the PCM master gateway as clock source.
