Preparation for Operation

Preparation of printer

1.

Open the printer door.

2.

Pull the paper cover open lever of the printer to open the paper cover.

3.

Set the printer paper in the indicated direction.

Printing cannot be performed if the front and back sides of the paper are reversed.

4.

Pull the end of the paper out of the paper discharging opening and push both ends
of the paper cover, and then close the cover.

5.

Press the FEED button to feed the paper and wind it around the take-up shaft
several times.

6.

Pinch the printer paper wound around the shaft with the take-up retainer to secure it.

Note

Periodically check the remaining amount of printer paper while taking the printing mode setting of the
printer (printer paper consumption) into consideration.
If the remaining amount of printer paper is insufficient, it is recommended that you replace it ahead of
time. If the printer runs out of paper, printing cannot be performed.

The printer paper for the TPNA-500 is a highly sensitive thermal paper for high-speed printers.
For purchase of the printer paper, specify the parts code listed in “ 

Accessories and

consumables” (page 229).

Note the following when storing the printer paper after printing.

Store it in a dark place with no direct sunlight (temperature: below 40

C, humidity: below 80%).

If the printer paper is put in a flexible polyvinyl chloride case, the color of the area in
contact with the case will fade. Use a polyethylene or polypropylene bag.

Rubber adhesive and any types of adhesive containing organic solvent will discolor the
paper. Do not use such adhesive for attaching the paper to other papers.

Bringing the paper in contact with erasers or adhesive tape will discolor the paper.

Rubbing the paper surface hard may discolor the paper.

Thermal paper is not suitable for long-term storage. If the material is to be stored in the long term,
it is recommended that you make a copy of it on a copy machine and store the copied paper.
