Adjustment of energy-saving extractor hoods
State-of-the-art manufacturing processes and best installation practices for extractor hoods, ducts
and fans cannot guarantee the complete and cost-efficient ventilation. The correct adjustment of the
supply and exhaust flow rates as well as the optimisation of the total system shows the advantages
of the REVEN® equipment to the best. Best possible operation is achieved
➜
when the extraction
system captures all cooking fumes and no fumes can escape, when pollutants and odours are
removed reliably and when as few heated air as possible is extracted.
The REVEN
®
system comprises four main components,
three of which are adjustable:
- Exhaust air fan
- Supply air fan
The hood cannot be adjusted and must be appropriately dimensioned for the cooking equipment
underneath to ensure best possible extraction. The adjustment of the components that are controllable
must be verified and matched to the requirements. An incorrectly adjusted component can affect
the performance of to the entire system. A measuring report can be prepared to provide evidence of
the correct adjustment and functioning of the system. If modifications are applied to the structure or
to the ventilation equipment (e.g. the secondary ventilation) after the initial adjustment of the hood,
the hood components should be checked and re-adjusted if required. This is the only way to make
sure that the hood works appropriately and efficiently.
The adjustment of the REVEN®
hood components comprises four main steps:
- Adjustment of the exhaust air without supply air
- Adjustment of the supply air
Preparation of the initial adjustment
The following preparations are recommended
prior to the adjustment of the hood components:
- Inspect the extractor hood
- Inspect the ducts and fans
- Investigate the adjustment and control
of the building ventilation system
Adjust the air-flow rate precisely at the fans. After this, switch the building ventilation system
to permanent operation. This prevents the generation of negative pressure in the kitchen.
➜
Make sure that the building ventilation is not switched off during the adjustment work
to keep the pressure conditions constant.
- Secondary air supply
- REVEN® extractor hood
- Prepare the measuring report
- Prepare the required measuring
equipment and keep it ready
- Supply air measurement
- Optimisation of the supply air
