Cleaning and Maintenance IV
Maintenance cleaning
➜
You should schedule the cleaning intervals so as to avoid deposits on the surfaces of the
collecting hoods and ceiling modules.
If grease deposits or other stubborn surface contamination
becomes apparent a high-pressure cleaner can be used to remove them. The temperature of the
water jet is 60 to 80 °C when leaving the nozzle. A steam jet reaches a temperature of 140 °C.
For stubborn dirt and beginning foreign corrosion, special liquid cleaning agents, based on phosphoric
acid for instance, are available.
➜
They are applied with a soft cloth and rinsed with plenty of
water after a short exposure time.
ATTENTION:
Abrasive agents are not suitable because they produce scratches on the surface.
➜
Soft non-woven
pads can be used to support the cleaning process mechanically.
To avoid contamination with
foreign iron, never use cleaning utensils that have been used on standard steel before. Moreover,
never apply bleaching agents, silver cleaners or cleaning agents that contain chlorides or hydrochloric
acid to the stainless steel surfaces.
You can use chrome polishes for car care to treat dull and worn surfaces.
➜
Severe oil and grease
contamination can be removed with alcohol-based cleaners or solvents such as spirit, isopropyl
alcohol or acetone.
These agents will cause no harm to the stainless steel surfaces. Make sure that
you do not spread dissolved contamination all over the surface during cleaning
➜
but rinse it off
with plenty of water.
The cleaning intervals depend on the degree and kind of contamination and should be determined in
accordance with your own demands on the cleanliness of the surface.
➜
As guidance, we recommend
cleaning your stainless steel surfaces as often as your glass surfaces and at least every one or two
months.
Otherwise, foreign particles in the deposits can damage the passive surface layer and
produce corrosion!
