General Description VIII /
REVEN® protect series
Function and features of the fire-extinguishing system
The sprinkler nozzles and triggering elements are installed above the equipment to be protected.
The sprinkler system is triggered manually via a pneumatic tripping device or automatically via
thermo-dynamic tripping elements (SPY20). The required extinction agent is stored in a stainless-
steel pressure tank. The agent is not under pressure in the storage tank. An instrument cabinet
is not required.
In the event of a fire, the protective system is triggered automatically or by manual activation.
When the system is triggered, the pressure in the control pipe rises and activates the pneumatic
control of the extinguishing system. The pressure rise of at least two bars causes the explosion of
a nitrogen cartridge (N2) in the extinction-agent tank.
➜
The released propelling gas drives
the extinction agent via the riser pipe into the extinguishing pipes and nozzles above the
protected objects.
The Firespy extinguishing system is a sprinkler system, which sprays the extinction agent
(FETTEX

) as a fine mist onto the fire sources.
➜
In the extinction process, the surfaces of
the protected objects are covered with a fine coat of extinction agent and are impregnated.
A protective film is generated on liquid oil or grease which covers the fire sources in a gas-tight
manner.
The extinction-agent tank is located outside the protected area. It is suitable for
ambient temperatures between
-30 °C and +50 °C.
