REMOVAL TYPE 2
•
Place a support under the motorcycle,
which allows to lift the front wheel off
the ground
•
Remove the clamps as described for
removal (1)
•
Loosen the 2 screws fixing the pin to
the fork legs
•
Remove the pin (1), the spacers (6)
and remove the wheel
Checking
BEARINGS
Before performing dimensional checks it is neces-
sary to check the state of wear of the bearings of
the wheel hub; this verification has to be done
manually with the bearing mounted in its place.
•
Turn the inner ring in both directions: it
must be able to rotate smoothly and
quietly, without jamming.
•
Then slide the inner ring out, constantly
changing position, to check for clear-
ance.
•
Remove and replace the bearings that
do not rotate smoothly and quietly or
show clearance.
CAUTION
EXCESSIVE WEAR CAN BE DUE TO VIBRATIONS AND IN-
STABILITY OF THE COMPONENT
•
To remove the bearing, use a hammer and a pin to press on the inner ring to obtain the
extraction of the bearing.
•
Move continuously the pressure point so as to obtain an extraction as linear as possible
CAUTION
THE REMOVED BEARINGS SHOULD NOT BE REFITTED
•
When refitting the new bearings control the seat, it must be free of grooves or scratches
•
Lubricate the seat before refitting the bearing, then push it into place
•
Use a tube buffer to press only on the outer ring of the bearing up to its full introduction.
CAUTION
AFTER WORKING ON THE WHEEL IT IS RECOMMENDED TO BALANCE IT
