How to Use the Pins Test
The pins test checks the pins on the communications
connectors. To run the pins test, first install a modem loopback
connector on the communications connector for the serial line
device that is not operating properly.
The command synatx is:
t 3/scc/pins
line loopback
where:
line
with the number of the serial line to which you
attached the modem connector.
Specify 2 to test the communications connector on the
right as you face the back of the system unit.
Specify 3 to test the communications connector on the
left as you face the back of the system unit.
loopback
with the part number for the modem loopback
connector that you attached to the communications
connector.
Specify 29-24795-00 if you installed a 29-24795-00
loopback connector.
Specify H8571-A if you installed an H8571-A loopback
connector.
Specify H3200 if you installed an H3200 loopback
connector.
Example: Pins test error messages
This is a sample pins test error message:
?TFL: 3/scc/pins (1: Ln2 20-22)
?TFL: 3/scc/pins
indicates that the pins test reported an error.
The
Ln
value is the number of the communications connector
that reported the error. In this sample message, the error
occurred in communications connector 2.
Numbers that follow the communications connector number
indicate the specific connector pins that failed.
For a detailed explanation of the pins test, refer to Appendix D.
