Redundancy Configuration
MAX Communication Server 6.7 provides for system redundancy (a Redundancy license
is required). Two Softswitch servers, primary and secondary, must be set up and
connected through a Dataprobe A\B switch box (KAB). The two servers maintain a keep-
alive connection between them directly, MAXCS to MAXCS. When the active server goes
down, the standby server takes over control. The change is transparent to direct
connected calls. (See “How Calls Are Affected When Switchover Occurs” on page 353.)
The primary and secondary servers must be located in the same LAN, and they must
share the same public IP addresses, so that external services and applications can
connect, no matter which server is handling the traffic.
The minimum configuration for system redundancy consists of the primary Softswitch,
the secondary Softswitch, gateways, Voice Mail server, External Logger, and CDR
database systems. See Figure 148, “Redundancy topology".
