le v e r to lift the side rin g away fr o m the rim . A fte r the
side ring has passed o v e r the rim gutter at the operating
notch w ork p r o g r e s s iv e ly around en tire rim until side
rin g is separated fro m wheel rim .
1. C om p letely deflate tir e by rem ovin g the va lve c o re .
2. L oosen the t ir e bead fro m its seat in the side rin g
by d rivin g the bead loosening end of a tir e iron b e ­
tween the t ir e bead and the side rin g (fig. 11). R e ­
peat this operation p r o g r e s s iv e ly around the side
rin g p ryin g until bead is lo o s e .
3. In sert straight end of t ir e iron into operating notch
located at double p im p les " B " (fig . 14).
4. Push side rin g down at point opposite operating notch
and fo r c e t ir e iron handle down causing side ring
to disengage fr o m rim gu tter. Repeat p r o g r e s s iv e ly
around side rin g p ryin g rin g fro m rim gutter until
fr e e .
5. T o fr e e opposite t ir e bead fr o m wheel rim , turn t ir e
o v e r and repeat bead loosen in g operation (fig . 15).
NOTE: It is not n ecessa ry to rem o ve side ring
fro m t ir e bead if t ir e is to be rem oved fo r tube
re p a ir only. Simply loosen t ir e bead fro m wheel
rim as in F igu re 13.

Two Section Rims— M o u n t i n g Tire
1. R em ove all rust scale fro m wheel rim and side ring.
2. In sert tube in t ir e and in flate until tube is n early
rounded out.
3. Lu bricate tir e beads, rim sides of tube and both
sides of flap with a solution of neutral vegetab le soap
o r R u -G lyde o r equivalent rubber lubricant. In sert
flap in t ir e .
4. P la c e disc portion o f wheel on flo o r with rim gutter
up and in stall tir e and tube assem bly indexing tube
v a lv e stem with stem support in wheel rim and with
v a lv e stem pointing in d e s ire d direction .
5. P la c e side rin g in position with operating notch ” B "
(fig . 16) approxim ately th ree inches fro m v a lv e on
eith er side.
6. The two cutaway sections opposite each other " A "
(fig . 17) on inner d ia m eter of side rin g a re positioned
so as to span the rim gutter.
7. A t point " C " opposite v a lv e , fo rc e rin g into rim gut­
te r as fa r as p ossib le.
8 . In sert straight end o f t ir e iron into operating notch
" B " (fig . 18). Then pull in d irection indicated.
9. Retain p ressu re with tool and strik e side rin g down­
ward at a point between operating notch and cutaway
