Pack the cavity between the seal lip s o f the pinion
flange o il seal with a lithiu m -base extrem e p ressu re
lubricant, position seal in b ore and place gauge plate

NOTE:
The position o f the pinion and flange
was p revio u sly m arked so that rein stallation
may be made with flange and pinion in same
re la tiv e position.
C A U TIO N :
Do not attempt to ham m er flange
onto pinion shaft. T o do so w ill damage ring
g e a r and pinion.
1 3 .
Pack the cavity between end o f pinion splines and
pinion flange with a non-hardening s e a le r (such as
P erm a te x Type A o r equivalent) p r io r to installing
nut on pinion.
1 4 .
Install a new nut on pinion shaft. Tighten nut to
rem ove end play and continue a ltern a tely tightening
in sm all increm ents and checking p reloa d with torque
wrench until it is the same as that record ed in
Step
4 .

R ein stall p ro p e lle r shaft to companion flange in
same position as m arked in Step
3 .
R ein sta ll re a r
brake drums and wheels.
