Checking  For  Leakage

1.  Build  up  a ir   p ressu re  in  system   to  maximum  p r e s ­

sure  lim it  (100  to  105  lb s .).  P la ce  lock  con trol  knob 
in  “ L O C K ”   position.

2.  Coat  a ll  a ir  line  connections  with  soap  suds  to  check 

fo r   leakage.  No  leakage  is   p e rm is s ib le .  Leakage 

can  som etim es  be  elim inated  by  tightening  the  con-

nection.  If  this  fa ils   to  c o rre c t  leakage,  disconnect 

leaking  fittin g  and  replace  seal  rin g  around  tube 
fla re .

3.  Coat  en tire  su rface  of  lock  shift  cy lin d er  and  control 

va lve  with  soap  suds  to  check  fo r  leakage.  If  leakage 
is   evident  in  eith er  unit,  rem ove  faulty  unit  and  o v e r ­

haul  as  d irected   under  individual  headings.

Control  V a lv e   (Fig.  9 3 )

Removal

1.  Disconnect  cable  assem bly  at  control  le v e r   (4).

2.

  Disconnect  a ir   outlet  line  at  control  va lv e   outlet 

p o rt  (12).

3.  Disconnect  check  va lve  fittin g  fro m   va lve  in let p ort 

(

).

4.  Disconnect  connectors  at  switch  assem bly.

Disassembly

1.  R em ove  te ll  tale  lamp  switch.

2.

  Using  a  sm all  d rift,  d riv e   fulcrum  pin  (3)  fro m   con­

tro l  le v e r   (4)  and  rem ove  le v e r.

3.  R em ove  cap  nut  (10),  cap  nut  O -rin g   (9),  va lve  spring 

(8),  and  va lv e   (7).

4.  Push  against  stem   o f  con trol  va lve  plunger  (14)  to 

rem ove  plunger  through  top  of  con trol  va lve  body. 

Rem ove  plunger  spring  (13).

5.  Rem ove 

“ O ”

  rin gs  (9)  fro m   cap  nut  (10)  and  plunger 

(14).

Cleaning  and  Inspection

1.  Wash  a ll  parts  except 

“ O ”

  rings  in  cleaning  fluid.

2.

  Inspect  a ll  p arts  fo r   w ear,  replace  if   damaged  in  any 

way.
