m ove  the  piston  extension  screw   securing  the  p r i
m ary  piston  spring  to  the  p rim a ry  piston.  R em ove

the spring reta in er, p rim a ry seal, p rim a ry seal
p rotector, and secondary seal fro m the p rim a ry

piston.

Cleaning and Inspection

1. Rem ove main cylin d er casting fro m v is e and inspect

the bore fo r c o rro sio n , pits, and fo reign m atter. Be
sure that the outlet ports are clean and fr e e o f b rass

cuttings fro m the tube seat rem oval operation.

2. Inspect the fluid r e s e r v o ir s fo r fo re ig n m atter.

Check the bypass and compensating ports to the c y l

inder b ore to insure that they a re not re s tric te d . Do
not use w ire to check ports.

NOTE:

B efo re washing parts, hands must be

clean. Do not wash hands in gasoline o r o il

b efo re cleaning p arts. Use soap and w ater only.

3. Use denatured alcohol o r brake fluid to clean a ll

m etal  parts  thoroughly.  Im m erse  parts  in  the  clean
ing  fluid  and  brush  with  h air  brush  to  rem ove
fo reign   m atter.  Blow  out  a ll  passages,  o r ific e s ,  and

va lve holes. A ir d ry the parts and place on clean
paper o r lin t- fr e e clean cloth.
