6. R em ove bolt and shim s at bottom of fender.
7. R em ove bolt and sh im (s) attaching sk irt to s ill ex­
tension.
8. R em ove 4 screw s attaching head light door to fen der
and g r ille .
9. R em ove screw s attaching gusset to rad iator support.
10. R em ove 3 screw s attaching s k irt to rad iator support.
11. R em ove 2 s c rew s s e c u r i n g fen d er to rad iator
support.
12. R em ove 4 s c re w s secu rin g fen d er to g r ille .
13. L ift fen d er and s k irt assem b ly fro m truck.

FRONT FENDER A N D SURGE
TA N K ACCESS DOOR
Each fron t fender is retained with attaching screw s,
nuts and lock w ashers as shown in F igu re 22. The handle
attaches to the bottom at the r e a r of the fen der with e x ­
tern a l tooth w ashers, bolts and nuts. Tape is used b efo re
installation.
Installation
1. R eplace fen d er and sk irt assem bly.
2. In stall bolts loosely.
3. Install shim s and secure a ll parts in r e v e r s e o rd e r
of rem oval.
4. Tighten shim m ed bolts.
FRONT FENDER SKIRT
Replacement
T o rep la ce the s k irt alone, rem ove req u ired s c rew s
and rotate o v e r tire . R e v e rs e procedu re to install.
FENDER SKIRT
4 0 -6 0 Series
Removal
1. Turn ste e rin g wheel so t ir e fron t is inboard.
2. Underneath the sk irt rem ove 2 screw s at top attached
to fen der.
3. R em ove 3 screw s attaching sk irt to lo w e r fen der
extension.
4. R em ove 3 screw s at fron t of sk irt attached to fen der.
5. Rem ove 6 s crew s holding sk irt to fen d er opening
flange.
6. Rem ove s c re w attaching sk irt to rad iator g r ille .
7. Underneath the sk irt, inboard, rem ove a la rg e bolt
fastened through the fen der sk irt to the cow l exten­
sion. Note shim and record .
8. Under the hood rem ove 2 screw s attaching s k irt r e ­
in forcem en t to skirt.
9. Rotate sk irt outward over tir e , then rem ove
rearw ard .
Installation
R ein stall in r e v e r s e o rd e r of rem oval. Note condition
of tape sealin g of fen d er sk irt flan ge. R eplace if
n ecessary.
R U N N IN G BOARD A N D FENDER EXTENSION
4 0 , 5 0 and 6 0 Series (Except F /F C ow l and
School Bus)
1. R em ove bolt fr o m inside door opening attached to
lo w e r extension.
2. R em ove bolts fro m under front of running board to
extension bottom.
3. R em ove 3 bolts fastening sk irt to flange of lo w e r
extension.
4. P u ll lo w e r fen d er extension downward then out.
