Slide door gla ss fo rw a rd engaging glass in vent
channel.
4. R ein sta ll a ll s crew s and tighten.
5. In stall and tighten the three screw s at the upper
fron t of the door.
Adjustm ent
1. Adjust the ven tila to r adjusting nut by turning clock ­
w ise to in crea se operating tension (fig . 43).
2. A fte r making adjustment bend tabs o v e r the hex nut.
3. In stall four (4) trim panel screw s and trim panel.
4. In stall door and window regu lator handles.
V e n tilato r Glass Replacem ent
1. Using an o il can o r s im ila r means, squ irt p re p s o l on
the glass f i l l e r a ll around the glass channel o r fram e
to soften the old sea l. When the s e a l has softened,
rem ove the gla ss fro m the channel.
2. Thoroughly clean the inside of the glass channel with
sandpaper, rem ovin g a ll rust, etc.
3. Using new glass channel f ille r , cut the p ie c e to be
in stalled two inches lon ger than n ecessa ry fo r the
channel. P la c e this p ie c e of f i l l e r (soapstoned side
of f i l l e r away fro m gla s s ) even ly o v e r the edge of the
glass which w ill fit in the channel. The extra f i lle r
extending beyond the r e a r edge of the glass should be
pinched togeth er to hold it in place during glass
installation.
NOTE: One side o f this f i l l e r (the outside of
the r o ll) is soapstoned. This is the side which
goes into the m etal channel.
4. Brush the inside of the m etal glass channel fr e e ly
with ordin ary engine oil. This w ill enable the glass
and f i lle r to slid e fr e e ly into the channel. Push the
glass with the f i l l e r around it into the channel until
it is fir m ly seated. A fte r the glass is fir m ly in place,
the o il softens the f i l l e r , causing it to sw ell, thereby
making a p e rfe c t, w atertigh t seal. T r im o ff the ex­
cess f i l l e r m a te ria l around the channel and at the
ends o f the channel.
NOTE: Glass should be in stalled so that re a r
edge is p a ra lle l to the d ivision post. A llo w fu ll
cure b efo re w ater testing.
D OO R W IN D O W ASSEMBLY
Removal
1. C om p letely lo w e r glass to bottom of door.
2. R em ove inside door and window regu la to r handles
using tool J-7797.
3. Rem ove door arm re s t and trim pad.
4. Mask o r co v e r upper portion of door window fram e.
R em ove ven tilator assem bly as p re v io u s ly outlined.
5. Slide glass fo rw a rd until fron t r o lle r is in line with
notch in sash channel. D isengage r o lle r fro m
channel.
6. Push window fo rw a rd and tilt fron t portion of window
up until r e a r r o lle r is disengaged.
7. Put window assem bly in norm al position (le v e l) and
ra is e straigh t up and out.
8. R e v e rs e above procedu re fo r installation.
W IN D O W REGULATOR REPLACEMENT (Fig. 4 4 )
Removal
1. Wind window a ll the way up.
2. R em ove inside door handles with T o o l J-7797.
3. Rem ove door trim pad secured with 4 screw s.
4. R em ove 4 screw s securing regu lator to inner panel.
5. Push regu lator out of c irc u la r opening w hile holding
r e a r of assem bly, then slid e assem bly to the notches
in the c a r r ie r channel and out through the door ac­
cess hole.
Installation
Install regu lator in re v e r s e o rd e r of rem oval, lubricate
regu la tor gears with lubriplate o r equivalent.

Side Door Opening W eatherstrip Replacem ent
Side door sealing in corp orates an inner seal. The
inner s e a l is mounted on the body opening w elding flange
(fig . 45) and goes com p letely around the p erip h ery of the
opening. The m olded w eath erstrip m a teria l is cem ented
(fig . 45).
