NOTE:

Lu bricate gea r teeth with D elco Cam

and  B a ll  B earing  lubricant  o r   equivalent.  Be
sure  c o v e r  is  p ro p e rly   located  o v e r   dowel  pins
and be  sure  to  rein sta ll  ground  strap.

P la ce w ip er in park position and in sta ll crank arm

on  output  shaft,  rotate  crank  so  alignm ent  m arks  line
up  with  those  on  co v e r  (fig .  22).
Replace  retaining  nut,  place  crank  arm   in  v is e ,

tighten retaining nut.

WINDSHIELD WASHER

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The p o sitive displacem ent w asher pumps used on the

tw o-speed non-depressed park w ip ers (fig . 23) use a

pump mechanism consisting o f a piston, piston sprii

and va lve arran gem en t driven by a 4 lobe cam, ai

fo llo w e r assem bly (fig. 25). The cam is attached to one
shaft o f the w ip er m otor output gea r (fig . 24). P r o

gram m ing is accom plished e le c tr ic a lly and m echanically

by a re la y assem bly and ratchet wheel arrangem ent.

SERVICE OPERATIONS

Removal and Installation

R em oval o f the w asher pump fro m the w ip er m otor

consists of:

1. Disconnect b attery ground cable.

2. Disconnect d e fro s te r hose and m ove to one side.
3. Rem ove ignition switch fro m instrum ent panel as

fo llo w s:

a. R em ove lock cylin d er by positioning switch in

“ A C C ” position and in sertin g a w ire in the sm a ll

hole in the cylin d er fa ce. Push in on w ire to

depress plunger and continue to turn key counter

clock w ise until lock cylin d er can be rem oved.

b. Rem ove ignition switch b e ze l.

c. Push ignition switch through dash and le t hang.

4. Disconnect

e le c tric a l connector and hoses from

pump.
