ENGINE 6-15
b. B olt tran sm ission to engine then ra is e engine
and tran sm ission assem bly and in stall flyw h eel
to co n verto r bolts.
c. In stall co n verto r housing underpan and sta rte r.
d. Connect th rottle linkage and vacuum modulator
line.
ON A L L SERIES E X C E P T CS 10-20-30:
• In stall clutch assem bly and clutch housing as out­
lined in Section 7.
2. Install engine in veh icle as follow s:
ON A L L SERIES E X C E P T CS 10-20-30:
• In stall engine and lo w e r until tran sm ission shaft
lin es up with clutch.
• Push engine rea rw a rd and rotate crankshaft until
tran sm ission shaft and clutch engage.
• In sta ll the engine mount bolts and torque to
s p ecification s.
• Connect tran sm ission to engine.
ON CS 10-20-30 SERIES:
• L o w e r engine and tran sm ission assem bly and push
re a rw a rd until engine mounts line up.
• On ve h ic le s with autom atic o r four speed trans­
m issions, in sta ll r e a r mount cro ssm em b er.
• In stall the engine mount bolts and torque to
sp ecification s.
• In stall the p r o p e lle r shaft as outlined in Section 4.
ON A L L SERIES:
• R em ove the liftin g d evice and liftin g adapter fro m
cylin d er head bolt location then torque cylin d er
head bolts to sp ecification s.
• In stall ro c k e r arm c o v e r as outlined.
3. Connect tran sm ission linkage (as requ ired).
4. In stall clutch c ro s s -s h a ft o r connect clutch sla ve
cylin d er (as req u ired ).
5. In stall fan and pu lley as outlined in Section 6K.
6. Connect:
• Exhaust pipe at m anifold.
• P o w e r s te e rin g lines at pump (as requ ired ).
• Vacuum o r a ir lin es at engine (as requ ired ).
• O il p re s s u re gauge line (as requ ired ).
• H eater hoses at engine connection.
• Fuel line at fu el pump.
• Choke cable at carb u retor.
• A c c e le r a to r linkage at m anifold bellcrank.
7. Connect w ire s at:
• C o il
• O il P re s s u re Switch
• T em p eratu re Switch
• D elcotron
• S ta rter Solenoid
8. Com plete in stallation as follow s:
ON TS 50 and 60 SERIES:
• In stall r e a r cab support.
• Connect cab sa fety lock at r e a r cab support.
• In stall le ft and righ t island supports.
•
Connect th rottle cable at ca rb u retor and retaining
brackets.
• Install ra d ia tor surge tank on island support and
connect hoses to surge tank..
• Swing con trol island re a rw a rd and connect to
support.
• Connect em ergen cy brake cable at em ergen cy
brake and retaining brackets.
• Connect choke cable at ca rb u retor and adjust.
• Connect shift linkage at control island.
• In stall the radiator, rad iator support and shroud
as outlined in Section 13.
ON PS 10-20-30-40 SERIES:
• In stall the ra d ia tor and shroud as outlined in
Section 13.
• In stall the battery.
• In stall the flo o r panel and engine box as outlined
in Section IB .
ON CS 40-50-60, MS 50, SS 40-50 SERIES:
• In stall the fron t end sheet m etal (with hood and
ra d ia tor attached) as outlined in Section 11).
ON CS 10-20-30, KS 10-20 SERIES:
• In stall the ra d ia to r and shroud as outlined in
Section 13.
• Install the hood as outlined in Section 11.
9. Install the a ir clean er, connect b attery cables, f i l l
cooling system and crankcase then sta rt engine and
check fo r leaks.
M an ifo ld Assem bly
Removal
1. Rem ove a ir clean er.
2. Disconnect both th rottle rods at b ellcran k and r e ­
m ove th rottle return spring.
3. Disconnect fu el and vacuum lines and choke cable at
carbu retor.
4. Disconnect crankcase ventilation hose at ro ck er arm
co ver.
5. Disconnect exhaust pipe at m anifold flange and d is­
card packing.
6. R em ove m anifold attaching bolts and clam ps then r e ­
m ove m anifold assem bly and d iscard gaskets.
7. Check fo r cracks in m anifold castings.
8. If n ecessa ry to rep la ce eith er intake o r exhaust
m anifolds, separate them by rem o vin g one bolt and
two nuts at cen ter of assem bly. R eassem b le mani­
folds using a new gasket. Tighten fin g e r tight and
torque to sp ecification s after assem bly to cylin d er
head. T ra n s fe r all n ecessary parts.
Installation
1. Clean g a s k e t su rfaces on cylin d er head and
m anifolds.
2. P osition new gasket o v e r m anifold end studs on head
and c a re fu lly in sta ll the m anifold in position making
sure the gaskets a re in place.
3. Install bolts and clam ps while holding m anifold in
place with hand.
4. Torque bolts to sp ecification s.
NOTE: C enter bolt and end bolt torque d iffe r.
5. Connect exhaust pipe to m anifold using a new
packing.
6. Connect crankcase ventilation hose at ro c k e r arm
cover.
7. Connect fu el and vacuum lines at carbu retor.
8. Connect choke cable and adjust as outlined in S ec­
tion 6M.
9. Connect th rottle rods at bellcran k and in sta ll throt­
tle return spring.
10. In stall a ir clean er, start engine, check fo r leaks and
adjust carb u retor id le speed and m ixture.
