4. R em ove link re ta in e r at actuator and lift link up out
o f actuator. R em ove actuator assem bly.
5., R em ove actuator fro m bracket.
Installation
1. Attach actuator to bracket.
2. Install link in actuator and in sta ll reta in er on link.
3. Mount the b racket to the-kick panel.
4. Connect the va lv e return spring. Connect the vacuum
hose to the actuator.
PLENUM AIR VALVE
Removal (Fig. 4 6 )
1. R em ove cowl g r ille panel. R e fe r to Section 11.
2. Disconnect the diaphragm link fro m the connecting
shaft arm .

3. R em ove the screw attaching the connecting shaft to
the tube extending fo rw a rd fro m the va lve.
4. R em ove the screw s attaching the nylon bearin g plate
to the fir e w a ll and slid e it forw ard .
5. P u ll the r e a r va lve p ivot pin fo rw a rd against spring
tension until it cle a rs the re a r bearing. L ift the
v a lve at the re a r and withdraw the va lve shaft from
the fire w a ll.
Installation
1. In sert the tube shaft on the va lv e into the fir e w a ll
hole and lo w e r the va lve into position with the re a r
p ivot pin retracted.
When the r e a r pin is aligned
with its bearing, allow it to extend into position.
2. Attach va lve return spring and nylon bushing.
3. A ssem b le the connecting shaft to the va lve and
actuating diaphragm.
4. Replace the cowl g r ille panel.

CONTROL SWITCH A N D /O R FRONT DUCT
Removal (Fig. 4 9 )
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. P u ll the control knob o ff the sw itch shaft.
3. Rem ove the retaining clip s in the fo rw a rd edge o f the
fron t a ir duct, squeeze the sides o f the duct together
to rem ove the duct fro m the fron t ro o f c o v e r and
lo w e r the duct enough to rem ove the switch connec­
to rs .
4. R em ove the switch connectors fro m the switch.
5. Rem ove the two switch mounting screw s and rem ove
the switch assem bly.
Installation
1. Install the switch connectors to the sw itch assem bly
as noted in F igu re 50.
