Strata Net over IP Programming Guidelines
Use the following steps/programs to program Strata Net over IP.
1. Assign the xIPU card using Program 100 (System > Card Assignment).
2. Use Program 161 for the LIPU and MIPU/GIPU.Use Program 151 to set up the BIPU.
3. Program ILG using Programs 304 (Trunk > ILG, 01=ISDN, 02=TIE, 03=DIT, 04=Q-SIG).
4. Program OLG using Program 306 (Trunk > OLG, 01=ISDN, 02=TIE/E&M, 03=Q-SIG).
5. Program the Channel group using Program 302 (Trunk > ISDN PRI (IP Protocol).
6. Assign network IDs for all nodes using Program 102 (System > Flexible Access Code).
7. Program networking using Programs 651~656.
8. Setup Strata Net over IP routing using Programs 671 and 672 (Strata Net > Network Over IP). See
example below.
9. Use Program 320 (Trunk > PRI B Channels) to control the number of channels to be used. This may be
necessary to limit the number of simultaneous calls allowed over the IP network. The IP network
bandwidth determines how many simultaneous calls can be supported. As a general guideline one
Strata Net over IP call requires a minimum of 36 kbps bandwidth.
Important!
The BIPU IP address must be set in Program 151. The MIPU/GIPU/LIPU IP address must
be set in Program 161. If the MIPU/GIPU/LIPU or BIPU-Q1A has a private IP address,
Strata Net IP communication must be over a Virtual Private Network (VPN) connection. To
avoid needing VPN for this IP connection, assign a Global IP address to the MIPU/GIPU/
LIPU/BIPU-Q1A interface.
10.If voice quality is low on Strata Net over IP calls, change defaults in Program 152 for fields 01~04.
11. After assigning an IP channel group in Program 302, assign the PAD levels to the PAD Groups 1 or 2 in
Program 107 (System > PAD Table) using the
.
12.After assigning the PAD level to the PAD Table in Program 107, assign the IP channel group to the PAD
group in Program 108 (System > PAD Table). Use ISDN trunk as the device type for IP Channel Group
Assignments.
Important!
These PAD values in steps 11 and 12 must be set properly to avoid low volume levels.
Important!
Stations in different nodes that will maintain tandem connections must have tandem
connection enabled in their class of service.
