3.2.4 HEAT REJECTION UNIT (HRU)
The purpose of the HRU is to reject the excess heat into the atmosphere and to ensure
sufficient cooling of the generator components.
The Heat Rejection Unit (HRU) contains of the following major components:
• Radiator
• Electric fans
• HRU Ambient Temperature Sensor
• Overflow tank

The HRU is designed to be coupled with base generator unit module or mounted remotely
from the engine under the following conditions:
• The HRU is either at the same height or elevated above the engine.
• The HRU must be located in a well ventilated area, with at least four feet of clearance
from the sides and two feet of clearance from the fan intake. Contact Qnergy technical
team for reduced clearance.
• In areas prone to strong winds, above 25mph, a stand-alone HRU needs to be secured to
the ground.
