21.2.2 LTS Start-Up Procedure
Below is the procedure for starting an LTS equipped PowerGen if the ambient temperature is
below -15°C (5°F):
1.Locate a vehicle within 30 ft of the PowerGen.
2.Inspect the HRU fans to ensure they can freely spin.
3. Remove the left side panel of the PowerGen. Refer to “Panel Removal” on page 71 for
instructions on how to remove the panel.
4. Connect the jumper cables (located in the bottom of the PowerGen enclosure) to the
vehicle battery terminals while vehicle is idling. Do not connect any external battery cables
directly to the PowerGen battery.
5. Using a multi-meter or “Details” tab in SmartView, verify greater than +13VDC on PowerGen
battery terminals.
6. Verify PowerGen electrical cabinet door is closed.
7. Clear faults on the PowerGen by pressing and holding the “START/STOP” button for 15
seconds until red light stops flashing.
8. Press the “START/STOP” button to enable to the PowerGen.
9.Monitor gas valve temperature via SmartView (“Details” tab). The yellow warning light will
remain on until -15°C is reached.
10.The PowerGen will begin its startup after the gas valve reaches -15°C (MAY TAKE UP TO 25
MINUTES).
11. Under certain temperature conditions, this process may require repetition. If the red-light
begins to flash, repeat steps 6-10 until ignition is achieved.
12. Once the PowerGen has started and run for 20 minutes, remove the jumper cables from
the vehicle battery and place back into PowerGen enclosure.
