Making full use of microSD memory card
microSD memory card
You can save data such as still images, movies or
melodies or make backup of data such as
phonebook or schedule in microSD memory card.
In addition, movies created with external devices
(PC, etc.) can be saved in microSD memory card
with the FOMA terminal (
→
P462) or the data in
microSD memory card can be operated from a PC
(
→
P462).
I
A microSD memory card is required separately.
You can purchase it at electric appliance stores.
I
Unformatted microSD memory cards must be
formatted with the FOMA terminal before using.
Note that the operation of microSD memory card
with incomplete formatting is not guaranteed.
→
P339
I
For a microSD memory card, use the format file
system (FAT12/FAT16) that conforms to the SD
memory card standards. When formatted in
FAT32, microSD memory card may not operate
correctly. FOMA terminal cannot use microSD
memory cards formatted in file system other
than FAT.
I
Images, movies/i-motion and melodies in
microSD memory card cannot be set as stand-by
display, ring alert or incoming image. Set them
after moving/copying to the FOMA terminal.
I
FOMA terminals support commercial microSD
memory cards of up to 2 Gbytes (As of October,
2006).
For microSD memory card checked, the latest
operation information including the
manufacturer and capacity can be viewed in the

operations.
I
To connect FOMA terminal to PC, USB cable is
necessary.
Usage precautions of microSD
memory cards
I
Do not remove the microSD memory card,
switch off or apply impact while saving or
deleting data, checking card state or formatting.
The data may be corrupted by such handling.
I
Subjecting FOMA terminal to strong impact such
as dropping when a microSD memory card is
attached may cause the microSD memory card to
pop out.
I
Do not attach labels or stickers on the microSD
memory card.
I
is indicated at the top of the display and the
terminal is in the data transfer mode (same
condition as out of service area) while data is
being saved, copied, moved or deleted, the
microSD memory card is being formatted or
information is being updated, the terminal is not
available for phone calls, i-mode operation or
data communication. Also, you cannot switch to
other functions by pressing
s
.
I
The microSD memory card cannot be used in All
lock or PIM lock ON.
I
When write protection is set for the microSD
memory card by other devices such as PC, saving
data into the card, deleting data and format
cannot be performed.
I
Data saved from other devices such as PCs into a
microSD memory card may not be displayed or
played with FOMA terminal. Also, data saved in
the microSD memory card from the FOMA
terminal may not be able to be displayed or
played on other devices.
