It is recommended that software update be executed
when good signal quality is obtained, three bars of
the signal level icon ( ) are displayed and the
terminal is not being moved.
Note: If radio wave signals become weaker during software
downloading or downloading has stopped, retry
software update in a place with strong radio wave
signals.

When software update is checked after updating the
software, message "No update is needed. Please
continue to use as before." appears.
･
A displayed icon of message stored at i-mode Center
disappears after software update.
If Receive option is set to "ON" and e-mail arrives
during software updating, the screen that notifies an
arrival of e-mail in the i-mode Center may not appear
after the software update being completed.

When updating software, your private information
concerning the mobile phone (model, serial number,
etc.) is automatically sent to the server (the server for
software update managed by DoCoMo). DoCoMo
does not use the sent information for purposes other
than software update.

Never remove the battery pack while updating
software. The update fails.

Software update can be done even when various
data, such as a phonebook registered in the FOMA
terminal, camera images, downloaded data, are
remaining; however, note that data protection
sometimes cannot be secured according to the
conditions of your FOMA terminal (such as
malfunction, damage, or water leak). DoCoMo
recommends backing up necessary data. Note that
some data such as downloaded data may not be
backed up.

When software update has failed, "Rewrite failed" is
displayed and all operation becomes unavailable. In
that case, please bring FOMA terminal to DoCoMo.

If "Movie ringtone" or "Music" have been set for
phone as a ring tone, a melody sounds for an
incoming call in downloading software. If you set a
movie/i-motion as an image, the first image is
displayed.
･
Any incoming videophone call cannot be answered
during download. Unanswered calls are recorded as
missed calls in Received calls.
