Data Communication
Data Communication
You can use data communication services
connecting PC to FOMA terminals via USB
connection cable.
Available communication modes
There are 3 communication modes available:
packet communication, 64K data communication
and data transfer.

To make packet or 64K data communications or
edit data such as the phonebook using a PC
connected, installation of the software in the
attached CD-ROM and various settings are
required.

DoCoMo will not guarantee operations on
upgraded OS.

This FOMA terminal is not applicable to packet or
64K data communications overseas.
Furthermore, it does not support

connection).

FOMA terminal does not support fax
communication or Remote Wakeup.

When performing data communication using
PDA of DoCoMo such as musea or sigmarion II
connecting with FOMA terminal, update of
musea or sigmarion II is required. For details on
update such as method, refer to the DoCoMo
website.
Packet communication
Packet communication charges are based on the
amount of data sent and received, which makes it
suitable for high-speed exchange of comparatively
small amounts of data as in sending and receiving
mail. No communication charges are required
when no data are exchanged even if you are
connected to the network. Therefore, sending/
receiving data as needed while remaining
connected to the network is possible.
High-speed packet communication can be
performed at a maximum reception speed of
384kbps and a maximum transmission speed of
64kbps by using access points that support FOMA
packet communication such as mopera U or
mopera of DoCoMo's Internet connection service.
However, the actual transmission speed varies with
the environment and the rate of congestion.

viewing websites containing images and
downloading will require high charges.
64K data communication
Communication charges are based on the duration
of the connection to the network regardless of the
volume of data, which makes it suitable for sending
and receiving relatively large amounts of data as in
downloading multi-media contents.
Data can be sent/received at stabled
communication speed of 64kbps by using access
points that support FOMA 64K data communication
services such as mopera U or mopera of DoCoMo's
Internet connection service or ISDN synchronized
64kbps access points.
Please be careful that a high cost will be charged
for long-time communications.
Data transfer
Data such as phonebook or messages can be sent
or received with no charges required.

You can also send and receive data to/from other
FOMA terminals, mobile phones or PCs via
infrared communication/iC transmission.

Checking operating environment
Use the communication configuration file and the
FOMA PC configuration software in the following
operating environments:
