22.5 Troubleshooting
Error
Possible cause
Solution
No display on the monitor
Screen saver active
Move the mouse. This will turn the
screen saver off.
The computer is not turned
on.
Turn the computer on.
The monitor is not turned on. Turn the monitor on.
Specimen not visible in the
video image
The specimen lighting is too
bright or too dark.
Change the brightness using the
slide control at the bottom left in
the video image.
The specimen is not posi-
tioned properly.
Position the specimen properly
(see Chap. 7 on Page 51).
The communication between
instrument and WinFTM is
disabled.
Enable the communication be-
tween instrument and WinFTM
(see Chap. 3.7 on Page 27).
Software crash
Switch off the WinFTM software,
PC and the instrument and then on
again.
Instrument does not turn on
when switching on the main
switch
The instrument is not con-
nected to line power.
Turn the instrument off and plug it
into a line socket.
The line fuse is blown.
Replace the fuse (see Chap. 22.3
on Page 186).
Printer prints garbage
Wrong printer driver in-
stalled
Install the correct printer driver.
No printout
The printer is switched off.
Switch on the printer.
The printer is not properly
connected to the computer.
Check the connection between
printer and computer.
CONTROL LED flashes
The cover of the measure-
ment chamber is not fully
closed.
Close the cover of the measure-
ment chamber completely.
Wrong measurement data
The selected product file
does not fit the specimen.
Select or set up appropriate prod-
uct file for the specimen.
Bad calibration
Perform calibration correctly (see
Chap. 18 on Page 145).
Missing or wrong reference
measurement
Perform reference measurement
(see Chap. 18.3 on Page 152).
