IP Multicast Commands
configure dvmrp timer
configure dvmrp timer <route-report-interval> <route-replacement-time>
Description
Configures the global DVMRP timers.
Syntax Description
Default
•
route-report-interval default—60 seconds.
•
route-replacement-time default—140 seconds.
Usage Guidelines
Specify the following:
•
route-report-interval—The amount of time the system waits between transmitting periodic route
report packets. The range is 1 to 2,147,483,647 seconds (68 years). The default setting is 60 seconds.
Because triggered update is always enabled, the route report will always be transmitted prior to the
expiration of the route report interval.
•
route-replacement-time—The route expiration time, commonly called route timeout. Initially it is 2 x
route-report-in20 (2 x 60 + 20 = 140). It is the time for a particular DVMRP route to expire,
while the route hold-down time is initially 2 x route-report-interval (2 x 60 = 120) which is the time
before a route gets removed from advertisement after it has been expired. The range is 1 to
2,147,483,647 seconds (68 years).
Example
The following command configures the DVMRP timers:
configure dvmrp timer 300 620
