Discriminator Value Setting by D/teX Ultra
X-rays entering D/teX Ultra contain unnecessary X-rays such as not only the
characteristic X-rays, but also the continuous X-rays and X-ray fluorescences
from the sample. The D/teX Ultra has a higher wavelength separation resolution
than SC. Thus, the discriminator value of the detector needs to be changed
depending on the wavelength used.
Set the discriminator value by D/teX Ultra when replacing another D/teX Ultra
on the MiniFlex 600 or when performing a measurement for a different
wavelength.
The discriminator value is specified and differs per individual product, and will
not change as long as it is not changed to another individual product.
Changing the value of the D/teX Ultra’s discriminator, compared with SC,
reduces the effect of fluorescent X-rays or improves intensity by lowering the
wavelength separation resolution and obtaining peripheral wavelengths as well.
D/teX Ultra treats the discriminator value as PHA baseline and PHA window,
which is the same way as SC.
Automatic adjustment of discriminator value
1
Set the setting jig (with Si) on the sample holder.
2
Select Tasks - Package Measurement, and open Maintenance.
①
Select
D/teX Detector Adjustment
, and click
D/teX Energy
Resolution Adjustment.
②
Enter the peak position of Si (111) (see Fig.6.4.1 and click the
Execute
button to perform the discriminator adjustment.
③
Select
Standard
in the
Resolution mode
box. The details of
resolution mode will be described later in this manual.
④
A message confirming whether to register or not will appear after the
adjustment is completed. Press the
Yes
button to register.
⑤
After the registration is completed, press the
