Updating Xilinx Code on an SP Switch2 PCI Attachment Adapter
Note:
This section applies only if the system is being used in a clustering environment.
This procedure must be followed when an SP Switch2 PCI Attachment Adapter is installed or replaced, or
when PSSP software is upgraded on a server or logical partition with an SP Switch2 PCI Attachment
Adapter installed. It is recommended that the procedure be performed by a system administrator.
Beginning with PSSP 3.4 PTF set 5, a new
/usr/lpp/ssp/css/xilinx_file_cor
is shipped. This is the
microcode that must be flashed into the Xilinx chip on the SP Switch2 PCI Attachment Adapter. The SP
Switch2 PCI Attachment Adapter requires a minimum of PSSP 3.4 PTF set 9 (that is, ssp.basic 3.4.0.8),
with APAR IY30343 for single-plane enviroments and APAR IY30344 for dual-plane environments.
Note:
References to css1 apply to dual-plane environments. If you are running in a single-plane
environment, you do not need to run the commands marked with an *.
On each server or logical partition using the
dsh
command from the control workstation (CWS), do the
following:
1. Quiesce all jobs running on the switch that are using the object node (that is, the SP-attached server
or logical partition upon which the adapter Xilinx upgrade is to be performed).
2. Enter
/usr/lpp/ssp/bin/Efence XX
, where XX is equal to the node_number of the SP-attached server
or logical partition
RESPONSE: All nodes successfully fenced.
3.
/usr/lpp/ssp/css/load_xilinx_cor -l css0 -P -f /usr/lpp/ssp/css/xilinx_file_cor
* /usr/lpp/ssp/css/load_xilinx_cor -l css1 -P -f /usr/lpp/ssp/css/xilinx_file_cor
Note:
This command may take several minutes to complete, and it
must not
be interrupted.
Depending on the level of Xilinx code currently loaded on the adapter, this command produces one of
the following responses. Look for the response at the end of the command output. If option “A” is
obtained call your next level of support for assistance.
v
Response A
"WARNING - WARNING - WARNING - WARNING - WARNING - WARNING
This Card Date code is 00004251 ....
This card CANNOT be filed updated ...
Please replace card through normal channels ....
WARNING - WARNING - WARNING - WARNING - WARNING - WARNING"
Next step: This card cannot be field-updated.
v
Response B
"Reflash not needed ...."
Next step: The Xilinx is up to date. No further action is required.
v
Response C
"Programming function complete ..."
Next step: For adapters in 9076 and 7017, go to step 4. For all other systems that have a PCI
adapter, proceed to step 5 on page 922.
4. For 9076 nodes with the SP Switch2 MX2 adapter (feature 4026), or the 7017 with an SP Switch2
PCI adapter (feature 8397), do the following:
shutdown -F
