Step 1527-1
Check the following air inlets and outlets for blockage or obstruction:

Front and rear frame door openings (except for acoustical foam)
v
Bulk power assembly (BPA) cage
– Inlet opening in left side of front BPA, BPA A
– Outlet opening in right side of rear BPA, BPB B
– Bulk power fan (BPF) cover is present on front BPA and absent on rear BPA
v
Processor subsystem cage
– Inlet opening at top front of processor subassembly
– Outlet opening at top rear of processor subassembly
v
I/O subsystem
– Inlet opening at front of the I/O subassembly
– Outlet opening at rear of I/O subassembly
Are all of these openings clear and unobstructed?
NO
Remove any obstructions and go to

NO
Fill any open positions with books or fillers, and go to

NO

Go to “Step 1527-4”.
Step 1527-4
Remove the blowers or fans from the affected subsystem.
Attention:
Do not put your hand into the enclosure.
Push the spring-loaded door open and hold it open with one hand. Using a suitably long instrument (a
12-inch ruler or long-handled screwdriver), push gently against the recirculation flaps at the back of each
blower or fan enclosure.
Are all the recirculation flaps in all enclosures free to swing up?
NO
The enclosure is not a replaceable FRU. Call your next level of support.
YES
Reinstall the blower or fans removed earlier and go to “Step 1527-5” on page 161
